## How the SIRS score works

The BC Provincial Nominee Program ranks Skills Immigration registrations with the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). It has five parts:

- **Work experience**, up to 40: directly related experience, plus points for Canadian experience and for currently working in the job.
- **Education**, up to 40: your highest level, where you studied, and a trades or professional credential.
- **Language**, up to 40, with extra points for ability in both English and French.
- **Hourly wage** of the B.C. job offer, up to 55. Higher wages earn more, reaching the maximum at $70 an hour.
- **Region of employment**, up to 25: jobs outside Metro Vancouver earn more, plus points for experience or study in that region.

A BC PNP nomination adds 600 points to an Express Entry profile. See [Express Entry draw types](https://www.crspulse.com/express-entry-draws) for how nominee rounds work.

## Questions

### What is a good SIRS score?

There is no fixed pass mark. BC PNP invites the highest-scoring registrations in periodic draws, often by stream or occupation, and the cutoffs change from draw to draw. Check the BC PNP site for recent draws.

### Why does the wage matter so much?

The hourly wage of your B.C. job offer is worth up to 55 points, more than any other single factor, so a higher-paid offer can move you up a long way.

### Does a BC PNP nomination help with Express Entry?

Yes. A nomination through an Express Entry-aligned BC PNP stream adds 600 CRS points, which in practice leads to an invitation in the next nominee round.
