How the FSW grid works
The Federal Skilled Worker Program is one of the three Express Entry programs. To enter the pool under it, you need at least 67 out of 100 on six selection factors:
- Language, up to 28: per ability, 6 points at CLB 9 or more, 5 at CLB 8, 4 at CLB 7, plus 4 for a second official language at CLB 5.
- Education, up to 25.
- Work experience, up to 15: 9 points for one year, rising to 15 for six years or more.
- Age, up to 12: full points from 18 to 35, then one fewer each year, reaching zero at 47.
- Arranged employment, 10.
- Adaptability, up to 10: previous study or work in Canada, a relative in Canada, or your spouse's language, study or work.
This is a pass/fail check. It does not change your CRS score. The FSW 67 points guide has every table.
Questions
What do I need besides 67 points?
CLB 7 in all four abilities of your first official language, at least one year of continuous skilled work (TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3) in the last ten years, an Educational Credential Assessment for foreign education, and proof of funds unless you have a valid job offer and are authorized to work in Canada.
Does my FSW score affect my CRS score?
No. The 67-point grid only decides whether you can enter the pool under FSW. Your rank in the pool comes from the CRS.
Do I need a job offer?
No. A valid job offer adds 10 points for arranged employment and 5 for adaptability, but most candidates qualify without one.
